My names Ben. I’m a 21 year old journalism student at the University of Glamorgan in Cardiff and am using this blog as an opportunity to showcase who I am as a professional and as a person.
Since the beginning of my degree, I have used this website to show my abilities in both football writing and general journalism, with it being an outlet for me to show any project work i’ve completed.
As well as any university work, I also have experience in Journalism from work placements with professional companies such as the BBC and also my local newspapers, The Plymouth Herald and the Tavistock Times Gazzette. I have experience in doing Radio journalism and TV journalism with BBC South West. I have completed work to a professional standard that has led to me being broadcast on local radio and having my writing printed in numerous editions of newspaper.
Currently, I am nearing the end of the third year of my degree and throughout the final year have been working on a number of projects, including a documentary focusing on local business in my hometown of Tavistock and a 40th Anniversary celebratory video for Welsh charity Mind Cymru.
I am very dedicated and enthusiastic about everything I do and strive to complete all my work to a professional standard. I have a keen interest in broadcast journalism as well as printed media and am also a page designer for an independent student newspaper based in Cardiff, called ‘The Phoenix’.
Away from education, I am also a huge football fan and for all my troubles, I support Plymouth Argyle. This is why my blog regularly contains football related posts. I have covered a number of topics ranging from International football all the way down to lower league English football. From match reports, to opinion pieces to features on tactics, I have aimed to be dynamic in my approach and developed a well-rounded ability in this niche.
I have written as a guest writer for a number of other sites including PlayUp Football, Sabotage Times and The Impact Sub, and am always keen to write for anyone.
I’m always looking to build up my portfolio by doing any form of freelancing, so if you you want to get in touch, feel free to get hold of me via twitter (@BenJames_8) or also via my email address: BenJames_8@live.co.uk.
Also available is a copy of my CV.
